Carl Hall

Carl Hall, 83, of Georgetown, passed away at his home at 4:00 pm, Saturday, February 4, 2023. He was born in in Terre Haute, IN, on August 2, 1939, the son of Joseph Harold and Etta {Dixon} Hall, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Linda Shipley on December 9, 1960, in Oliver, IL. She survives. Carl graduated High School in 1957, then attended Indiana State University where he graduated in 1961 with his teaching degree. He later went to Eastern Illinois University and earned his Masters degree in counseling in 1990. He taught at the Westville School District for 30 years. Outside of his career, he served in the Georgetown Lions Club for many years where he served as the District Governor for Lions of Illinois as well as a Trustee. Attending church, Fairview Methodist Church, was important to Carl, and for many years he sang in a church choir. Carl was also a bicycle enthusiast and enjoyed joining in bike events. He was known to love writing poetry and watching the Indy 500. Carl will be dearly missed by his wife, Linda Hall; his children, Janette (John) Nimrick Jr., Lori (Steve) Bennett, and Becky (Greg) Spires; his eight grandchildren; his 22 great grandchildren; and his brother-in-law, Don Huffaker. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. A celebration of Carls life be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois, 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois, 61846, with Pastor Matt Filicsky. Visitation will be held 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery, Georgetown, IL. Memorials may be made in Carls name to International Lions Club or Fairview Church.
