Carl Griffin

Carl Lee Griffin, age 83, of Sidell, Illinois passed away November 4, 2022, at home with his family by his side. He was born March 14, 1939, in Montezuma, Indiana to the late Carl and Eva (Smith) Griffin. Carl married the love of his life, Sondra Jean (Johnson) Griffin on September 8, 1958, in Eugene, Indiana. Lee and Sonnie had three children, Wade Lee Griffin of Sidell, Illinois, Danny Joe (Tammie) Griffin of Indianola, Illinois, and Debra Sue Burgess of Newman, Illinois. Carl is survived by his sister Karen (Lanie) Johnson of Rockville, Indiana, his sister-in-law Debbie Cisco Grimes of Lexington, Georgia, his 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and his best friend Jack Jack. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his beautiful wife Sonnie, his brother Richard Grimes of Lexington, Georgia, two sisters Brenda Griffin Koch and Cheryl Griffin White of Indiana, two grandsons Daniel Lee Griffin and Chase William Griffin, his granddaughter Natosha Colleen Griffin, and his beloved Sassy and Lucky Dog. Carl was a 55-year member of the Operating Engineers Local 841. He was also certified in Small Engineer Repair. Even after retirement Carl had to stay busy and enjoyed saw sharpening in his shop. Carl had a passion for antique cars and attending car shows with his beloved wife and his award winning 1951 Ford Coupe. A Celebration of Life Dinner will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the family home in Sidell, Illinois.
