Carl G. Young

Danville Carl G. Young, 89, of Danville passed away at 7:24 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. He was born on November 26, 1930 in Oakwood, IL, the son of Peter and Bertha Ann (Taylor) Young. He married Jerry Lou Holden. She survives.

Also surviving are two children, Charles Robert (Shari) Young and Carla Gail Young, and two brothers, Robert L. Young and Ben G. (Sue) Young.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael G. Young.

Carl graduated from Oakwood High School before he served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He earned his Associates Degree from Danville Junior College and began his career with the Illinois State Police where he served as a State Trooper until his retirement. Carl was also a member of the Vermilion County Radio Control Club.

A graveside service for Carl Young will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL. Pastor Dave Garver will officiate, and military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post #210. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834 is in charge of arrangements.
