Carl Edward Tabels, 71, of Danville, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at his home. He was born on July 17, 1948 the son of Gilbert and Maxine Tabels in Danville, IL. They precede him in death.

Carl married Linda Young on October 18, 1968. They later parted but remained good friends, she survives. Also surviving include four children, Kara (Jason) Davis from Utah, Jeff (Erin Neidt) Tabels of Chicago, Kelly Freeman of St. Joseph, and Krista Tabels of Danville; six grandchildren, Hannah Davis, Jocelyn Davis, Cameron Davis, Austin (Alexia) Johnson, Gabe Freeman, and Madelyn Tabels; three great grandchildren; one sister, Rena (James) Grimes; two nieces, Tia Hoover, Tija (Mike) Long, and their families.

Carl was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan who enjoyed collecting Cubs memorabilia. He enjoyed taking things apart and sometimes putting them back together. He liked working outside, where he would put in a $20 hole for a $5 plant. He will be missed by his family.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Carls name to a charity of the donors choice.
