Carl Charles Cooke

Westville- Carl Charles Cooke, 75, our beloved father and grandfather left this life on Thursday Sept 17, 2009. Carl was born January 26, 1934 to Charles and Lottie (Urban) Cooke. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Janice (Sedlak) Cooke. Carl is survived by his brother, Donald (Darla) Cooke of Westville; sister, Marilyn (Bob) Meidel of Danville; daughters, Debra (Dan) Riley of Covington, IN; Susan Cooke of St. Petersburg, FL; Karen (Rick) Scott of Westville; son, David (Robin) Cooke of Indianapolis, IN and grandchildren; Jennifer, Justin, Marcus & Mike Riley; Sam, Hannah & MaryClaire Cooke; Lauren, Patrick & Rachel Scott. Carl was a lifetime member of St. Marys Catholic Church. His devotion to his faith and the love and support he received in marriage sustained him throughout life. He was a graduate of Westville HS class of 1951. He worked at TeePak for 38 years before retiring in 1996. Growing up, he and his WestEnd gang honed their athletic skills at their beloved Arks Park. He excelled in high school as a basketball player and later, as a baseball player in various semi-pro and recreational leagues throughout the area. Carl spent most of his free time playing cards with his downtown cronies and rooting for the Cubbies and the Bears. Friends and family will always remember Carls easygoing manner and ability to tell humorous, often embellished, stories. Funeral Mass will be at 11a Monday, Sept 21st at St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville with Fr. Timothy Saupp(c) officiating. Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Visitation will from 2-6p Sunday at Sunset Urbas Westville Chapel with Rosary at 1:30p.
