Carl Arthur Alumbaugh, 86, of Georgetown, passed away at 10:58pm, Monday, July 18, 2016, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman. On April 30, 1930, he was born in Westville, IL, the son of Arthur and Helen {Kuras} Alumbaugh. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Naylor on October 24, 1958, in Georgetown. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his son, Ronald (Cindy) McMasters of Georgetown; his daughters, Carla (Dave) Ramsey of Altamonte Springs, FL, and Carolyn (Dan) Pickering of Bourbonnais, IL; his grandchildren, Shane Ramsey, Chandra McMasters, Brandy Pearson, Heidi McMasters, Tara Morrical, Darin Pickering, & Dane Pickering; his great grandchildren, Makayla Morrical, Brigham Morrical, Mia Morrical, Cade Pickering, Ethan Pickering, Reece Pickering, Ava Moy, Gavin Moy, Aiden Pickering, Caitlynn McMasters, Drue McMasters, Josh Johnson, & Giuliana Ramsey; and special friends, Joyce Hollingsworth of Georgetown and Don & Dorothy Wheeler of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his daughter, Cindy; his grandson, Dustin Pickering; and his sister, Margaret. Carl was proud to serve in the US Army. He graduated from Westville High School and later graduated from Coyne Electric School in Chicago, IL. He retired as an electrician for the University of Illinois. He attended Vermilion Grove Friends Church and was a lifetime member of the Westville American Legion Post #51. In his spare time, Carl enjoyed going fishing at Leisure Time Estates, coon hunting, and gardening. Carl's family was most important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. A celebration of Carl's life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, with Joyce Hollingsworth officiating. Visitation will be held 4pm to 8pm, Friday, July 22, 2016 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery with Military honors conducted by the Westville American Legion Post #51. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Vermilion Grove Friends Church or Westville American Legion Post #51.
