Kingman, Ind. - Calvin W. Gearheart, 73, of rural Kingman, passed away at 1:45 a.m. EDT Monday, May 3, 2021 at his residence.
He was born December 5, 1947 in Moorehead, Kentucky the son of the late Mollie (McIntosh) Mitchell and Harlan W. Gearheart.
Calvin married Betty M. Gossett on May 5, 1967 in rural Kingman, Indiana. She survives.
Other survivors include his two sons: Brian (Holly) Gearheart and Toby Gearheart both of Kingman, Indiana; two grandsons: Lincoln Scott Gearheart and Harlan Scott Gearheart; sister: Beatrice (Dave) Hicks of Danville, Illinois and brother-in-law: Jim Lamb of Belgium, Illinois.
Calvin was preceded in death by his brother: Charles William Gearheart, and sister: Judy Gearheart.
Calvin was the owner/operator of Calvin Auto Parts in Kingman, Indiana. He was a former late model stock racer in the 1970's and 1980's racing at the area tracks on both asphalt and dirt. He later participated in demolition derbies. Calvin enjoyed mushrooming, working in his shop, selling parts and building motors. He especially enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons.
Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Friday, May 7, 2021 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Rodney Overpeck; Burial: Miller Cemetery in Lodi, Indiana; Visitation: Friday, May 7, 2021 from Noon EDT until time of services at the funeral home.
