Calvin Richard Holman passed away December 22, 2022 at Gardenview Manor in Danville, Illinois. He was born June 15, 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Hershel and Helen Holman. He had three sisters. The family came to Danville in his youth where he attended Daniel and Washington schools. He worked several short-term jobs at the Danville Stadium and at the Pepsi-Cola plant for over 30 years. He worked at the Poor Farm in Hegler when he was offered a job at the Half Way Inn. He worked and resided there for 10 years. He made many friends there. He learned to cook for the house menu and parties. His customers and fans nicknamed him "Colonel Cal" for his cooking talent and he was very proud of that. He loved to vacation in Las Vegas and did so 13 times. After leaving the Half Way Inn, he lived at the Wolford Apartments for 15 years. He was a kind and thoughtful man always helping and giving to others. He leaves behind several cousins who visited and cared for him in recent years.
