Caleb Starkey, 28, a cherished member of the Covington community, passed away on March 31, 2026, in Covington, Indiana. Born on June 12, 1997, in Lafayette, Indiana, Caleb’s life was marked by an infectious joy and a profound love for those around him. Known for his ever-present smile, he truly embodied a spirit that brightened the lives of many.
Caleb was a man who loved life deeply and embraced it with a carefree passion. His affection for animals was evident to all who knew him, reflecting a gentle nature and boundless compassion. Among his favorite pastimes was shooting pool, a hobby through which he forged countless friendships and fostered community ties. Most notably, Caleb had an enduring love for Covington and its people, where he found a true sense of belonging.
He is survived by his father, Miles Starkey, and his wife Shelby, along with their children Kylee (Taylor) Starkey, Keegan Starkey, Keelan Ping, Karlee Starkey, Seth Kinsley, River Kinsley, and Brycen Paxton. Caleb’s legacy also lives on through his grandfather Rick Starkey, who he had a very special relationship with, his great aunt Sandee Frey. Among his close companions were special friends Ryan Stonebraker, Marc Crowder, and Tom Crouse, who stood by him through life’s many chapters.
Caleb’s family and friends remember him with deep affection and honor the memory of those who preceded him: his beloved grandmother Christina Landers; grandparents Richard and Deborah Bitt; great-grandparents Lee Roy and Ona Mornout; and great uncles Tom Frey, Bruce Starkey, and Tim Starkey. Their memories remain a treasured part of Caleb’s story.
To celebrate his life, visitation will be held on April 6, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Covington Church of Nazarene, located at 1203 Washington Street, Covington, Indiana, 47932. Caleb Starkey’s warmth, kindness, and zest for life have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have been touched by his friendship and love. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his family, friends, and the wider Covington community.
