Burton Dale Whittaker

Burton Dale Whittaker, 77, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 10:36am, Monday, August 1, 2022, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville. He was born the son of Harry and June (Finchem) Whittaker on April 4, 1945, in Ottawa, Illinois. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 46 years, Rose {Freed} Whittaker; his son, Bob (Shannon) Whittaker; granddaughters, Abbee (Wyatt) Whittaker of Jasonville, IN, and Bailee Whittaker of Ridge Farm; his brother, Harold (Jill) Whittaker of Lafayette, IN; his sister, Karen (Roger) Ladd of Madisonville, KY; and nieces & nephews, Jennifer, Jeremy, Becky, & Jody. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sharon Whittaker; and his brother, Gary Whittaker. Burt graduated from Danville High School Class of 1964. He worked for NorthFork Southern Railroad in Tilton Yard for 38 years until retiring 2009. In his free time, he enjoyed watching his granddaughters in their many school activities. He enjoyed caving in southern Indiana with his brother, Gary. He also liked to hike and clean trails with his wife, Rose, and brother, Gary, at Kennekuk County Park. He leaves behind many memories for his family and friends. A celebration of Burts life will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, August 5, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ridge Farm. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Kennekuk County Park.
