Buford 'Bj' Plog

Buford BJ Plog, 90, of Ridge Farm, IL, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011, at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home, Danville. He was born on September 29, 1920, in Bond County, IL, the son of Leroy and Dora {Hoffman} Plog, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Naomi Crum-Foreman on November 9, 1963, in Clinton, IN. She will miss him dearly. Survivors include: his sons, Laurence (Diana) Plog of Ridge Farm, Amos David (Susan) Foreman of Aberdeen, MS, & John C. Plog of Alvin, TX; his daughters, Jeanette (Michael) Andre of Bismarck, Pamela (John) Stultz of Ridge Farm, Sharon (David) Wiles of Smyrna, TN, & Alice Marie (John) Hires of Catlin; his sixteen grandchildren; his twenty-two great grandchildren; his four great-great grandchildren; his sister, Julia Loy of Rockledge, FL; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by: his brother, Quentin Plog; his sister, Alice Edwards; his grandson, Amos Foreman IV; and one great granddaughter, Allison Hires. BJ farmed in the Ridge Farm and Clinton, IN, area for many years. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army Air Corp 33rd Troop Carrier Squadron and served during WWII in the South Pacific. He was known to enjoy sharing his pictures from the military during his service in wartime and loved going to his Air Corp Reunions as well as hosting them. He was a member of the Ridge Farm Friends Church and Ridge Farm Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, BJ enjoyed gardening and woodworking, but above all else, loved being with his family. A celebration of BJs life will be at 10:00am, Friday, April 15, 2011, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel, A Life Celebration Home, in Georgetown with Rev. William Wiggins officiating. A Graveside service will also be held at 3:00pm Friday at Brown Cemetery which is located north of Pocahontas, IL, with Tom Plog will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8pm, Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the funeral chapel with Masonic Rites at 7:30pm. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Ridge Farm Friends Church or charity of Donors Choice.
