Buelah Bailey Rohrer 94, died Thursday April 9, 2009, at Pleasant Meadows Nursing Home in Chrisman, IL. Buelah was born August 23, 1914 in Danville, IL the daughter of Carlos & Nellie (Groves) Bailey. She married Clyde Rohrer in Paris, IL on June 10, 1933. Buelah worked at Chuckles Candy Factory where she also played on the basketball team, she was also employed by Grab It Here Grocery, General Refactories Office in Tilton, and Morris Flamingo Hair Products. She was also the founder of the Thursday morning Tops Chapter in Westville and helped to organize the Tuesday morning Tops also in Westville. Both of which are still active today 39 years later. She was also an active Red Coat Volunteer in the Dove Department and the print shop at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center (PUSMC) often working every day except Sunday. Buelah was on also the advisory board for the Fair Oaks Youth Activities, as well as a Sunday School teacher of High School students at Foursquare Church. Buelah was an avid fan of the Westville Tigers Basketball Team. At one time all five of her sons were active players on basketball teams in the Danville-Westville area. Buelah and her sister Loreene were active members of First Assembly of God Church where they sang in the Keenager Korus. They were also active in the Ridgeview Baptist Retiree Group, where they took turns playing the piano for events. Buelah is survived by one daughter; Shirley (Harvey) Miller of Westville, three sons; William (Beverly) of Bloomington, IN Robert (Sandra) of Booneville, IN and Thomas of Urbana, IL; three daughters-in-laws; Helen Rohrer and Gladys Vecellio of Tilton and Jo Ann Rohrer of Springfield, IL; 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great- grandchildren. Buelah was preceded in death by her husband Clyde, two daughters; Margaret and Janice (Larry) Harvey, two sons Richard, who died March 12, 2009 and Daniel, who died March 14, 2009; three brothers Loren, Floyd, and Gail; four sisters Loreene Hickman, Helen Phillips, Hazel Parker and infant Margaret. A Celebration of Life Service for Buelah will be held at 11:00 am April 14, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Rev. Anita Livengood officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Following the service she will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials may be made in Buelahs name to the First Assembly of God Senior Group Keenagers or Ridgeview Baptist Senior Group Primetimers.
