Bryan Allen Cannon

Bryan Allen Cannon, 56, of Georgetown, went to be with the Lord at 8:44am, Monday, September 3, 2018, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville. He was born on May 4, 1962, in Urbana, IL at Mercy Hospital, the son of George Allen and Ruby {Rouse} Cannon. He was married to Connie Louise Dreher on September 17, 1988 at the First Church of Christ in Georgetown where he was an active member and baptized, as well as taught the 4 and 5-year-olds in Sunday School, along with his wife, Connie, early in their marriage. He will be dearly missed by: his wife, Connie; his daughter, Emily Louise Cannon; a sister, Theresa (Richard) Johnson of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Cannon. He graduated from Georgetown High School in 1980 and then graduated from DACC in 1984 with a degree in Conservation & Parks Management and Physical Education. He was employed by the National Parks Service at the Everglades National Park in Homestead, FL, as a Park Ranger where he worked as Highway Patrol on the 50-miles of roadway inside the Park. On weekends, he worked as boat patrol in Florida Bay out of Key Largo Ranger Station. Bryan later worked for the State of Illinois as a correctional officer in the Danville Correctional Center for 27 years and retired on May 31, 2012. Bryan was known far and near for his absolute honesty and sturdiness of purpose as a husband and father. He was kind, loving, & caring and shared the joys and sorrows of life with his wife and daughter. As a neighbor, he was the soul of honor and many sought his counsel, and few doubted his word. He was an avid Illini fan going to many football and basketball games with his father-in-law, Ed Dreher, and Ed's good friend, Gary Knight. He enjoyed the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting, nature photography, collecting Christmas ornaments, arrowheads, & Indian artifacts. He was known statewide for his Numismatic knowledge & collecting. Bryan also enjoyed observing deer at Forest Glen. He enjoyed listening to Country & Western music and music from the 1970's and 1980's while sitting on his back porch in the summer and watching the hummingbirds in the lilac bush and spending time with his wife and daughter. A celebration of Bryan's life will be 11:00am, Monday, September 10, 2018, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, with Phil Miller officiating. Visitation will be 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Sunday, September 9, 2018, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown.
