Bruce Alan Swingle

Bruce Alan Swingle, 69, of Veedersburg, Indiana passed away on Friday September 6th, at home in Veedersburg surrounded by his family.

Bruce was born on June 28, 1950 in Danville, IL. He was the son of Robert and Blanche (Bowers) Swingle. They proceeded him in death.

Bruce married his high school sweetheart Debbie Miller in 1968. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary last year. They had two children Chad Swingle, and Christy ( Joe ) Nickle, they have 6 grandchildren, Abby(Jacob) Hoagland , Lexy Nickle, Jacob, Caitlin, Sydney, and Samuel Swingle He was looking forward to the birth of his first great granddaughter this month.

Other surviving family members include a brother Jim (Sondra) Evans, Marlene (Greg) Lighty, and Marilyn (Doug) Martin and several nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Fountain Central High School. Bruce severed in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves.

He retired from the Veterans Administration. He also ran his own painting business for many years in the area.

Bruce had a passion for golf. He was a member of Rivercrest Golf Course for many years. He won many club championships in his division and last year he shot his age twice of 68, and also had a career best 66. He recorded two career hole in ones, one in 1998 and one in 2010.

Bruce and Debbie also enjoyed traveling, spending the winter months of their retirement in Florida. He enjoyed attending and watching anything his grandkids were involved in.

A celebration of Bruces life will be held at 11am EST. on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home in Covington, Indiana, 420 3rd street Covington, Indiana. Officiating will be Pastor Gary Johnson. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 9, 2019 from 4pm to 7pm est. Burial will take place at Rockfield Cemetery in Veedersburg following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg.
