Bruce Alan Juran

Bruce Alan Juran died at his home in St. Joseph, Illinois on August 22nd, 2011 of a major heart attack which was asymptomatic, therefore unexpected, lightning fast and which has brought great grief to his family. He was a donor to Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation. Bruce was born on November 18th, 1962, in Evanston, Illinois. He was extraordinarily bright, he became a great storyteller, a walking encyclopedia of common and arcane knowledge and so funny that his version of any event could make milk come out through one's nose---- no small feat considering that the milk was in the refrigerator----and across the room. He attended schools in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Illinois; graduated from Oakwood Township High School and attended Parkland College. He was a DeMolay as a young man. Bruce was a long haul truck driver for many years. He joined Horizon Hobby in Champaign in 2002 and was Lead Electronics Technician there at the time of his death. He received many awards and commendations during his time there. He was the grandson of Elaine Pichon Van Buskirk and Raymond L. Van Buskirk of Fithian, Illinois. His grandmother predeceased him in 1992 and his grandfather died just 8 months ago. He is survived by his mother Judith Van Buskirk Gugudan and step-father Charles R. Gugudan of Florida; his brother Mark Ian Juran, his sister-in-law Tammy Jo Juran and his two nieces Amanda Ray Juran and Elizabeth Elaine Juran; his father Donald C. Juran all of Minnesota. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle Bonnie Jo Van Buskirk Dodson and Donald G. Dodson and their son and daughter, Craig Dodson and wife Anne and their sons Sam and Trevor, and Donna Elaine Dodson all of Massachusetts. There are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins on the Juran side from Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his special friend Kit. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27th, 2011 at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel, 105 East South Main Street Oakwood, Illinois 61858. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
