Bruce Abernathy

Bruce A. Abernathy, 26, of Covington, passed away at 12:50 pm, Saturday, September 5, 2009 at his residence. Bruce was born on September 20, 1982 in Lafayette, Indiana, the son of Jeffry and Christy L. (Clemence) Abernathy. Bruce married Whitney Nicole Sternberg on August 2, 2008 in Danville, Illinois. Bruce is survived by his wife, Whitney, his parents, Jeffry and Christy Abernathy of Covington, one brother, Dylan Abernathy of Covington, paternal grandmother, Patricia Abernathy of Covington, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert Sternberg and Debbie Sternberg both of Danville, brother-in-law, Aaron Sternberg of Danville, several uncles, aunts, and cousins. Bruce was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Kenneth R. Abernathy and his maternal grandparents Keith and Esther Clemence. Bruce was employed by Pilot Oil Company in the maintenance department. Bruce enjoyed working on cars, his home, and playing with his dog, Ceres. A celebration of life for Bruce A. Abernathy will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Sunsets Covington Chapel, 420 Third Street, Covington, Indiana with Pastor Chris Hoblitzel officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8:00pm, Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the chapel. Memorials may be made in Bruces name by donors choice.
