Cayuga, Ind. -- Brian Jay Dunkerly, 57, of Cayuga, went home on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 4:35 p.m. EDT at Union Hospital Clinton in Clinton, Indiana. Jay was the beloved son of Martha L. Parkhurst Dunkerly of Cayuga and the late Joe Dunkerly. He was a very special person to his family and all who knew and loved him. We will miss him very much. Jay lived at home his entire life with his mother who loved, cared for him and devoted her life to him until his last breath. Jay is survived by his mother, Martha; four sisters, Suzanne(Robert)Kunkle of Perrysville, Indiana; Debbie Gentrup and Rhonda(David)Arrasmith both of Cayuga, Indiana; Sharon(Brian)Freeman of Veedersburg, Indiana; one brother, Mike(Vickie)Williams of Carbondale, Illinois; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jay enjoyed listening to music, playing games and spending time with his family. We would like to give a special thank you to Jay's caregivers throughout the past several years. They include: Chris Wheatfill; Dorothy Jones; Chris Flaurr; Mandy Reece; Susan Stewart; Connie Miller; Kay McKomas; Edith Earles, Peggy Fellows and Gen Thompson. Also the late Virginia Bowling and Terry and Roger Trosper. Martha would like to thank Community Connections of Terre Haute; Indiana Home Care Nurses and all nurses and therapists at Union Hospital Clinton. A special thank you to Dr. Sankey/Swaim and staff; Gene(Janine)Wright for the use of their van. Funeral services: 10 a.m. EDT Friday, May 21, 2010 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Burial: Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EDT Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the funeral home. We know at last Jay is finally free and able to walk, talk and see clearly. We love you Jay .... forever.
