Brian Henry Dimmitt

Brian Henry Dimmitt, 35, of Catlin, IL passed away at 9:21 PM on March 20, 2026 at his home in Catlin, IL.

Brian was born on March 28, 1990 in Macomb, IL the son of Chris and Cynthia (Gilbert) Dimmitt. He married Dustin Vailes on February 2, 2025 in Las Vegas, NV and he survives.

Survivors include his husband, Dustin Vailes of Catlin, IL, his father and stepmother, Chris and Shelly Ann Dimmitt of Bushnell, IL, his paternal grandfather, Paul Dimitt of Bushnell, two siblings, Becky (Mike) Quesenberry of Macomb, IL and April Dimmitt of Urbana, IL, stepsibling, Kaley Marie Lynn Hensley of Galesburg, IL and nephews, Talan, Kendrick and Kyson.

Brian is preceded in death by his mother, Cynthia Sue Dimmitt and his paternal grandmother, Betty Jane Dimmitt and his maternal grandparents, Roger and Ellie Gilbert.

Brian graduated from the University of Illinois in 2012 with a bachelor’s of science degree in molecular and cellular biology. He worked as a Cytology Lead at Carle Foundation Hospital for the past 13 years. Brian enjoyed spending his free time traveling, kayaking, hiking, taking his dogs Sammy and Bellamy on walks, playing D&D with his friends and collecting model ships.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Father John Cyr will officiate. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. A Prayer Service will be held at 4:30 PM on Friday, March 27, 2026 with Visitation to follow from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home in Danville, IL.

Memorials may be made in Brian’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
