On July 9, 2011, at home with his family, Brent Lock ended his short battle with cancer and started a new adventure. Brent was born July 3, 1961 in Mattoon, Illinois to Russell G. Lock and Judy (Haskett) Brewer. Both parents are deceased, as is his step-dad, Jim Brewer. Brent attended Kansas, Chrisman and Oakwood High schools, respectively, graduating in 1979. He married Marsha Porter on May 26, 1984. Brent worked construction most of his life and owned/operated Looks Alive Taxidermy. Brent enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles with his wife and their Harley family. Spending time with his wife, daughters and grandson was what he loved most. Brent loved to brag about his girls and grandson to anyone who would listen. If you listened close enough youd realize he often referred to his girls as his boys. He traveled across the nation with work and loved to find new adventures. Over the years, Brent was fondly referred to by some close friends as Big Guy, Grizz, and Big N. As big and intimidating as he may have looked, Brent had a heart of gold and a soft spot for babies. He loved nature and sharing his knowledge with others. He was truly a man of means and loved to live off the land. Brent was a Brouilettes Creek Township Trustee for 6 years; member of Middlefork Valley HOG Chapter, National HOG, National Rifle Association, Pheasants Forever and Illinois State Rifle Association. Brent is survived by: his wife, Marsha; daughters Casey Lock of Indianapolis and Codi Lock of Charleston; grandson Dominique Chavira of Danville; brothers Bryan Lock, Bart (Debi) Lock, Brandon (Stephanie) Lock all of Oakwood and Gary Lock of Altamont; sister Karen (Bob) Spurlock of Oregon; step brother Jim Brewer of Champaign; step sister Lori (Tony) Cox of Champaign; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Brent had many good friends and buddies who will miss sharing in good food, good stories and mostly good friendship. Visitation will be at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel, A Life Celebration Home, in Georgetown, IL, on Wednesday, July 13, from 4-8pm, funeral services will be Thursday, July 14, at 11:00am with graveside services at Light-Carmel Cemetery near Scotland.
