Brenda Jean Alcorn, 58, of Tilton, passed away at 12:02 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Jean was born on March 16, 1949 in Danville, the daughter of Wilbur L. and Violet (Davis) Gruber. She married Jerry Alcorn on June 17, 1967 in Danville. He survives. Jean is also survived by her one son- Todd Alcorn of Tilton; two daughters- Angie Alcorn of Danville and Jessica Alcorn of Tilton; two sisters- Joyce (Chuck) Honn of Tilton and Janet (Bill) Wear of Tilton; grandson- Michael Alcorn of Tilton; Father-in-law- Lamoine Alcorn of Danville; step-father-in-law- Wayne (Jean) Anderson of Tilton; and several nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents. Jean graduated from Danville High School in 1967. She worked as a pharmacy technician at the VA Hospital for the last 15 years. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church of Christ (formerly Hooton Church of Christ). Jean enjoyed crafts, gardening and flowers. She enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals with Jerry. Jean dedicated her life taking care of her handicapped grandson Michael and loved to watch Jessicas volleyball games. Jeans family was her life and she loved being with them. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and loved her. A Celebration of the Life of Jean Alcorn will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Cornerstone Christian Church (formerly Hooton Church of Christ), with Pastor Kevin Cox officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 " 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Visitation will also be at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 " 11:00 a.m. Jean will be laid to rest next to her parents at Songer Cemetery in Tilton.
