Braj Bhushan Jain

Braj Bhushan Jain, 86, of Champaign died at home on Thursday, January 11th surrounded by loved ones. Braj is survived by Chander Kanta Jain, his wife of 58 years, his two sons, Rajiv and Sanjiv, his daughters-in-law Sandy and Namita, and his four grandchildren: Anju, Akash, Priya and Meena. Braj was born in Uttar Pradesh, India to Mannulal and Sona Devi Jain. He was the youngest of seven siblings (all of whom preceded him in death). He grew up in a rural town with limited means in India and by excelling in school and then work made his way to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1963. After graduation he was offered a job in Detroit and brought his wife and son to the USA, soon moving to the Chicago suburbs where he lived and worked for engineering consultant companies for over 30 years. Braj and his wife relocated to Champaign to be closer to grandchildren nearly 10 years ago. His sons followed in his footsteps and graduated with engineering degrees from U of I. His eldest, Rajiv, continued in engineering in Palo Alto, CA and his youngest, Sanjiv, went on to medical school and has served the Champaign-Urbana community as a physician at Carle for over 20 years. Braj is loved and will be missed. There will be a celebration of life for Braj Jain on Monday January 15, 2018 from 1-3 PM at Sunset Funeral Home at 710 N Neil St. in Champaign for any who are interested. Cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made to a charity of your choice.
