Bonnie Vaughn

Bonnie Vaughn 80, of Mahomet, IL. passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Mahomet. She was born on February 2, 1945, in Urbana, the daughter of Lyle and Phyllis (Phillippe) Blue. She married Robert (Tink) Vaughn on January 9, 1965, he survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Julie (Jeff) Creek, a son John (Jody) Vaughn; 5 grandchildren Cydney (Alex) Jones, Tristan and Zane Creek, Luke Vaughn and Jack (Sandra) Vaughn; 1 great grandchild, Primrose Blue Jones, 2 brothers, Jan (Peggy) Blue, Boyd (Mary) Blue and several nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law Jeff Creek.

Bonnie was employed in the property assessment field for 28 years, beginning as Mahomet Township Assessor and retiring in 2004 as Champaign County Supervisor of Assessments. During her retirement she loved working at Cornbelt Fire Protection District with all the wonderful volunteers. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and playing cards. Bonnie was honored to attend 3 Winter Olympics to watch her namesake, Bonnie Blair Cruikshank win 5 Gold medals.

She was a member of Mahomet United Methodist Church where she served on several committees and a past President of the Mahomet Town and Country Women’s Club.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Mahomet United Methodist Church 1302 E. South Mahomet Rd. on Thursday, January 22, at 11am.
