Bonnie June Whitney

Champaign - Bonnie June Whitney, 81, passed away on Saturday March 11, 2017 at her home in Champaign, IL. She was born on May 4, 1935 in Detroit, MI to Charles "Chuck" and Beulah (Devocelle-Manis) Harris. Bonnie married Lester N. Whitney Jr. on March 20, 1955 in Athens, IL. Bonnie worked for the Muscular Dystrophy Association until her retirement in 2000. Bonnie is survived by her children Mark Richard Whitney, Brian and wife (Connie) Whitney, and Michelle Leslie Whitney (Morfey) and husband Todd Morfey; grandchildren Ryan Whitney, Isabelle Whitney, Jennifer Camden-Spain and husband (James Spain), Kyle Camden, Daniel and wife (Beth) Camden, Whitney (Camden) Vinalay, and Tyler Morfey; great-grandchildren Karleigh Spain, Jase Spain, and Kaidence Schmidtt. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, step-father Arlie Harris, and her beloved cat Milo. Bonnie enjoyed reading, going to the movies, watching Illini basketball, and going to garage sales. She was an avid gardener with an appreciation for flowers and working in her yard. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held on Saturday March 18, 2017 at 11am at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL 61820. Memorial visitation will be held prior from 10am-11am at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Bonnie's name to the American Cancer Society.
