Mary B. Davis Boen, 73, of Alvin, passed away at 2:07 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home. She was born October 10, 1931 in Potomac, Illinois, the daughter of Homer James and Velma Ella (Drollinger) Davis. She married Paul Woodrow Boen on January 30, 1965 in Danville, he survives. She was previously married to Donald Sanders of Danville, and he survives. Mary is also survived by: 4 Children- Linda (John) Smith of Danville, Tim (Sally) Sanders of Danville, Lisa Craghead of Urbana and Jodie Boen of Alvin; 2 Step-Children- Larry Boen of Danville and Ed Boen of Portland, OR; 4 Grandchildren- Ryan Smith, Jason Smith, Samuel Sanders and David Sanders; 3 Step-Grandchildren- Ashley, Andy and Abbey Boen; 1 Great-Granddaughter- Hannah Smith; 1 Brother- Reece (Eloise) Davis of Florida; 2 Sisters " Helen (Chet) Weage of Michigan and Lucy (Quint) Slevin of Danville; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and 1 Brother- James Davis preceded her in death. Mary graduated from Potomac High School in 1949 as Salutatorian of her class. She worked in Directory Assistance for Illinois Bell for 20 years, until her retirement in 1988. She operated Bismarck Sandwich Shop for 2 years after her retirement. She published her own cook-book The Little Red Hen. She was a former member of Vermilion County Home Extension and a Charter member of Bismarck Junior Womens Club. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She loved to cook and bake " her specialties were chicken and noodles and angel food cake. She enjoyed raising chickens, goats and sheep on the family farm. She enjoyed her cats and her dog Easter. She was an excellent seamstress, and was a very giving person of her time and efforts to other people, including the homeless.
