State Line - Bobby Wayne McLain, 85, was born on January 30, 1936 in Warren County near Hedrick, Indiana. He was the youngest and only son of Theodore and Catherine (Laflen) McLain.
Bob battled Parkinson's and Alzheimers diseases for the last few years before he passed away at 8:40 AM on Monday, June 28, 2021 at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois.
Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Marge (Huchel) McLain; his two daughters, Kelly (Mark) Maucere, and Kay (Rick) Gose; his three grandchildren, Nick Maucere, Jack Maucere, and Devyn Gose; as well as his sister, Phyllis Trenkle, and special friends Rita and Don Gayler, Butch Haas and Jerry Hays.
Preceding Bob in death were his parents and his sister, Shirley May.
Bob was an amazing friend, loving father, and faithful husband. He graduated from Williamsport High School "Go Bingy Bombers" in 1954. While there he was nicknamed "Burly Bob". He participated in Glee Club, Track, Baseball, and lettered in Basketball and Football. He Honorably served in the United States Army and worked at Harrison Steel in Attica.
On April 29th, 1967 he married Marge at St Patricks Catholic Church in Danville, Illinois. They were married by Father Paul Kinder. Bob retired as a supervisor after working twenty-nine years at Hyster Company. Bob was a faithful member of Saint Paul's Catholic Church, an avid golfer, runner and an obsessive Indiana University basketball fan. Bob loved his old cars, a 1965 Mustang and a 1964 Thunderbird which he and his wife drove on their honeymoon in 1967. He enjoyed: dancing, being outdoors, working on his cars, hiking at Turkey Run, taking bicycle rides, watching Westerns, eating pie, and spending time with his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 6th, 2021 at St Pauls Catholic Church, 1303 North Walnut Street Danville, Illinois 61832. Father Bo Schmitt will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, 2021 from 5-7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. A Rosary Service will be held at 4:30 PM prior to the visitation.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Bobs memory to St. Pauls Catholic Church or Schlarman Academy.
