Bobby R. Long, Sr.

Lafayette, Ind. - Bobby R. Long, Sr., 75, of Lafayette and formerly of Cayuga and Alvin, Illinois, went to be with his Lord and Savior and reunited with his wife, Arwilda on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 3:30 a.m. EST at his daughter's residence in Lafayette. Bobby was born April 9, 1940 in Paris, Illinois, the son of the late Earl C. and Peggy A. Wilson Long. Bobby married Arwilda M. Mikel on March 15, 1958 in Tilton, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2008. Survivors include one son, Bobby(Janlynn)Long, Jr. of Danville, Illinois; one daughter, Loretta(Bruce)West of Lafayette, Indiana; four grandchildren, Lanee-Brooke; Mazee-Rae(Luis); Beau-Ashton and Kylee Beth(Alden); six great grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn(Gerald)Taylor of Sidell, Illinois; one brother, Wayne(MaryJo)Long of Monticello, Illinois and many special friends. Bobby was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Long. In 1993, Bobby retired from maintenance at General Motors in Tilton, Illinois. He was a former member of the Fairmont Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing his guitar and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services: 6 p.m. EST Thursday, November 19, 2015 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Scott McCurdy; Visitation: Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 4 p.m. EST until time of services at the funeral home. Private graveside services will be held Friday, November 20, 2015 at Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana. The family request contributions to the Tribute Program, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or to Christians United for Israel, PO Box 1307, San Antonio, TX 78295-1307.
