Bobby 'Bob' Gene Ellis, 89, of Covington, IN, a good and faithful servant of the Lord, went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, passing away at the Danville Illinois VA Medical Center.
Bobby Ellis was born in Simpson County Kentucky, on September 30, 1934, to Robert Winferd and Daisy (Adamson) Ellis. He graduated high school from Franklin, Kentucky
.
He had three brothers Utah Ellis, Billy Ellis, and Aubrey Lee Ellis, and one sister, Brownie Williams who preceded him as well as his parents.
He married Ann Elizabeth Woodrow on September 14, 1962. Survivors include his wife and three children: Eric (Leslie) Ellis of Terre Haute, Indiana, Mark (Cindy) Ellis of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Alisa (Marvin) Lamm of Danville, Illinois; along with 8 grandchildren: Jordan, Kaylee, Landon, Carter, Grant, Taylor, Carmen Ellis, and Kyle (Melanie) Lamm.
Bob served in the United States Army from December 1956 to September 1958 and was stationed at Fort Knox Kentucky and in South Korea. His specialty was as a light weapons infantryman. He was honorably discharged from the Army Reserves on February 1963
.
He learned how to fly small engine airplanes and owned one himself for a while. He worked as a fireman on the Pennsylvania Railroad in Indianapolis where he then met Ann.

He was a draftsman by trade, working at Tee Pak in Danville, Illinois and later working at Flexel in Covington. Bob enjoyed gardening and music. After retirement, Bob also picked up the hobby of woodworking, carving musical instruments, small horses, cowboy boots, ships, etc.
Bob loved to travel the United States. Each year, the family would go on vacation to various states. Once retired, Bob and Ann purchased a motor home where they covered the east and west coasts. They spent many winters alternating between North Fort Myers, Florida and in the Valley of Texas

Bob was a very caring, positive, and gentle soul. He and Ann enjoyed being with family, especially with their grandchildren. He had been a faithful member and deacon of the First Church of Christ in Covington.
He will be greatly missed by his wife and family and his church family and friends.
A service to celebrate his life will be at 11 am est. on Tuesday March 19, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home in Covington, Indiana. Duane Mycroft, a life-long friend, and pastor will be officiating, along with Joey Emrick, pastor of First Church of Christ in Covington. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington following the service, A visitation will be at the funeral home 10am-11am est.
