Blanche Burke

Blanche O. Burke (ne Blackburn) passed away on July 18, 2024 in Urbana, Illinois at the age of 82, surrounded by family. Born on November 1, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Joseph M. Blackburn and Elmira M.(Van) Blackburn; she is preceded in death by her brother Laurence J. Blackburn. Blanche is survived by her sister Sharon C. Rynerson; brothers Gregory M. Blackburn and Jeffrey A. Blackburn; sons William P. Burke and Brad L. Burke; daughters in-law Shelley L. Burke and Kathrine A. Burke (respectively); grandchildren Branden P. Burke, Justin W. Burke, Kaylee J. Burke, Emily J. Burke, and Khloe A. Burke; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Blanche, endearingly referred to as "Flo Flo," was hard-working, and strong-spirited while raising her boys, and taking care of the ones she loved the most. She devoted much of her time to her loving family and dearest friends. She was exceptional at creating lasting memories with each and every person she encountered, never afraid to tell anyone how she really felt about them, and just how much she loved them. Blanche enjoyed spending time with her sister and best friend, Sharon, playing cards, going to garage sales, and playing lottery games. She loved being a Grammy to her grandchildren, spending time with them, taking care of them, and watching them grow and learn. Blanche was a homemaker and caretaker to so many over the years, beloved by many, and leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. Family and friends are invited to the funeral service on Sunday, August 11th at 2 p.m., being held at Belmont Community Church of Johnstown, 107 Coldren St. Johnstown, PA 15904.
