Billy Joe Murdock

Billy Joe Murdock, 77, of Georgetown, passed away at 12:33am, Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Presence Covenant, Urbana. He was born on November 21, 1937, in Eugene, Indiana, the son of Raymond and Ella {Devens} Murdock, both deceased. On June 17, 1958, he was united in marriage to Sharon Wyer in Georgetown. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his children, Kenny Murdock of Georgetown, Jimmy (Sheila) Murdock of Westville, & Paula (Larry) Thompson of Georgetown; his 8 grandchildren; and his 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his brothers, Fred & Ernest; and sister, Ruby Bishop. Billy was proud Veteran of the US Army serving 1957-1960. He worked for Estad Products for 30 years then retired. He enjoyed model building, gardening, & riding motorcycles. Billy was known to be very proud of his cars. He especially enjoyed taking his wife, Sharon, out to lunch. A celebration of Billys life will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 12pm-2pm prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown, with Military Rites conducted by the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Memorial donations may be given in his name to American Heart Association.
