Billy Atwood, 87, of Danville passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born January 6, 1928 to Howard and Olive Louise (White) Atwood. He married Betty Bloomfield on March 22, 1946. She survives. Bill is survived by three daughters Vickie (Tom) Edwards of Danville, Debbie (George) Burnett of Danville, and Sherrie (Ron) Shoemaker of Danville; seven grandchildren Craig (Shelly) Edwards, Kimberly (Vince) Savage, Eric (Tobi) Burnett, Shawn (Jennifer) Burnett, Shanna (Shawn) Flynn, Clay "Bubba" Shoemaker, and Rosa (Brandon) Lee; and twelve great-grandchildren Sadie Edwards, Tyler and Abbie Knight, Andy and Thomas Savage, Bryce and Brennan Burnett, Colin and Ethan Burnett, and Chloe, Ella, and Palmer Flynn. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Judith Kay, and a sister Beatrice June Corder. Bill enjoyed farming, camping, grilling out, and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed riding horses, attending rodeos, and watching RFD TV. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family especially on Sunday afternoons. He served in the Army at the end of World War II during Guam. He was a member of Cedar Grove Nazarene Church, the Moose Lodge, and a 33rd Mason. He was a carpenter and a 60 year member of Carpenter Lodge Local #269. Memorials can be made in Bill's name to the American Heart Association, the American Alzheimer's Association, or Cedar Grove Nazarene Church. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville, a Life Celebration Home, at 11 AM on Monday, April 27 2015. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to service at the funeral home on Monday, April 27 2015.
