Covington, Indiana - Bill Marshall, 79, of rural Covington, passed away at 8:10 p.m. EDT Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born October 9, 1934 in Lodi, Indiana the son of the late Dorothy Marie McMasters Parker and Fred D. Marshall. He first married Elsie M. Everett on June 8, 1957 in Cayuga, Indiana. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2001. He later married Gladys Beckelhymer VanHook on September 23, 2003 in Newport, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Cheryl(John)Graves of Perrysville, Indiana; one son, Bruce D.(Kimberly)Marshall of Los Angeles, California; five grandchildren, Justin(Karena)Tolley of Beavercreek, Ohio; Charlene Tolley of Crawfordsville, Indiana; Ryan(Caryn)Marshall of Carmel, Indiana; Kyle(Mandy)Marshall of Indianapolis, Indiana and Laura Beth(Philip)Lerner of Dallas, Texas, and four great grandchildren, Hannah, Jack, Nathan and Allison. Bill was preceded in death by his son, Brent Marshall and brother, Clyde Robert Marshall. Bill was a accountant at Olin Corporation in Covington, retiring in 1991. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Bill was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Tilton, Illinois, formerly attended the First Baptist Church in Covington, Indiana, and was currently attending the Christian Union Church north of Perrysville, Indiana. Bill attended Tangier grade school, was a 1952 graduate of Cayuga High School and attended Indiana State University. An avid golfer, Bill was particularly fond of horses and hounds. He enjoyed horseback riding and calf roping. Bill was a trusted friend and a lover of life. Laughter was a common sound in his home. Bill's legacy is one of faith in God and helping others. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services: 10 a.m. EDT Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, 518 5th Street, Covington, Indiana 47932; Officiating: Pastor's Joe Humrichous, Scott McCurdy and Tony DeMoss; Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana with military rites; Visitation: Friday, September 26, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. EDT at the church and one hour prior to services on Saturday. The family request contributions to Christian Union Church. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is in charge of arrangements.
