William Bill Martin Hersh Sr. 88 of Oakwood, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006. Bill was born on December 17, 1918 in Broken Bow, Nebraska, the son of Clarence and Iona (Milton) Hersh. He married Mary Ann Chess in 1938 in Omaha, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on November 22, 1992. He married Margaret Brothers on November 27, 1976 in Oakwood, Illinois. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2004.Bill was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. Bill is survived by his three sister; two sons- William M. Hersh Jr. and Jim (Trudy) Hersh both of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters- Joellyn Krauel and Judy (Randy) Millis both of Oakwood; eight grandchildren- Brad Hersh, Steve (Stephanie) Hersh, Heather Hersh, Chris (Kim) Day, Stacy (John) High, Matt Millis, Jamey Hersh, and Brycie Millis; six great-grandchildren- Brandon Day, Mackenzie Day, Andrew Hersh, Mason High, Ethan Tincknell-Hersh and Isabella Day. Bill graduated from South Omaha High School in 1936. He was a member of the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He worked for 38 years at Swift Packing Company. He later worked as an independent livestock buyer. Bill was a member of the Elks Lodge #332, Moose Lodge # 1001, and the Polywog Association. He loved golfing, walking, gardening, and being outdoors. A Celebration of the Life of William Bill Martin Hersh Sr. will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2006 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel, with Rev. Allen Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. " 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hersh Family plot in Omaha, Nebraska.
