Bill D. Lazzell

Bill D. Lazzell, 85, of Danville passed away on July 17, 2017 at Gardenview Manor in Danville, IL. He was born on January 31, 1932 in Allerton, IL the son of Sidney and Helen (Neighbarger) Lazzell. He married Shirley Seyfert on September 2, 1953 in Danville, they spent 63 wonderful years together and she survives. Bill will be deeply missed by his wife Shirley, children; Gary (Tammy) Lazzell of FL, Kathy Gritton of Orlando, FL, Danny (Bonnie) Lazzell of Danville and Lisa (Brian) Wells of Tolono, IL, brothers; Donnie (Martha) Lazzell, Jack (Pat) Lazzell and Jerry (Melissa) Lazzell, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers; Wilbur and Bernie Lazzell. Bill served in the United States Army and was a member of the Champaign American Legion. He worked at the University of Illinois as a painter for over 30 years. He loved fishing, golf, bowling, gardening and watching Illini basketball games. Bill and Shirley were members of Farmer's Chapel United Methodist Church in Danville. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Jack Lazell officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the service. Bill will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. American Legion Post #210 will perform military rights.
