Beverly C. Johnson

Beverly "Carlene" Johnson (Zindars), 79, of Mahomet passed away at 12:05pm on Saturday, September 9 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 5, 1944 in Champaign, IL, to Carl and Oda Zindars. She joins her one true love, Bill Johnson, who passed in June of 2023. Bill and Carlene married on August 23, 1961, and are now together again.

Carlene, also known as "Dede" to her grandchildren, is survived by her children, Sherri (Mark) Vance of Mansfield, and Kim (Jeff) Liggett of Mahomet; her 4 grandchildren, Corey Johnson, Krista (Josh) Covert, Ashley (Sam) Curtis, and Kayla Liggett; and her 8 great-grandchildren, Braiden, Kamdyn, Presely, Avery, Brantley, Cohen, Journee, and Finley.

Carlene comes from a big family leaving behind many that will miss her dearly. Including her surviving siblings, Dick (Diane) Zindars, Jerry (Denise) Zindars, Chuck (Tammy) Zindars, Tammy (Marty) Schroeder, and Linda (Tim) Chapman. Along with a large extended family, including nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, etc. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Oda Zindars of Mahomet, her brother Clayton Zindars, along with brother Jim and sister-in-law Sharon Zindars.

Carlene worked at Kraft in their Human Resources department before retiring in 1999, where she then picked up the game of golf and started traveling with friends and family. She loved spending time with family, and time outdoors with her flowers and birds.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for close family and friends, to celebrate the life of both Bill and Carlene.
