Betty Grandma Farmer Waterman, 90, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:25am, Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Gardenview Manor Nursing Home, Danville. She was born on May 4, 1924, in Ridge Farm, IL, the daughter of Harvey and Rachel {Yates} Pollitt. She was united in marriage to John Waterman on September 4, 1942, in Rantoul, IL, until his passing in 1973. Betty had worked for the Cool Spot Drive-In Restaurant in Westville and also had worked for Ben Franklin in Georgetown where she was fondly known to many as the Craft Lady. She had also worked for Latoz Hardware. Betty was a member of the First Church of Christ Georgetown and the Historical Society. She was also an election judge for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, bowling, and collecting salt-n-pepper shakers. She was an Illini Fan and an avid gardener. She also enjoyed taking trips to Michigan. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She will be missed by: her daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Waterman; her grandchildren, Kevin & Kurt Kupcick, Laura (Randy) Fletcher, John (Carrie) Waterman, Christopher (Kellie) Waterman, Jason Waterman, Melissa Waterman, Jim (Nichole) Waterman, Tim (Nicole) Waterman, Paul (Shannon) Waterman; several great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her sons, Don & John Waterman; her daughter, Barb Miller; her great grandson, Christopher Waterman Jr.; and her seven brothers & sisters. A celebration of Bettys life will be held at 12:00pm, Monday, May 12, 2014, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00am-12:00pm Monday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Georgetown. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Georgetown Food Pantry at the First of Church of Christ in Georgetown.
