Danville - Betty Ray, 84, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2015 at Garden view Manor in Danville. Betty was born on June 21, 1930. Early in the year of 1951, Betty married her sweetheart Jack Ray and the two built a loving family and home together. Jack passed away on November 9, 2000. Betty is survived by her children Gary (Betty) Ray of Westville, Janet (Robert) Lewis of Danville, and Jeanie (John) King of Catlin; her grandchildren Gary Ray, Travis (Lynnsey) Ray, Jason (Sara) Lewis, Matthew (Whitney) Lewis, and Courtney King; her great-grandchildren Patton, Brady, Madison, Abigail, Isaac, Audrey, Owen, Tyler and Levi; and her sister Judy Shelby. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Ray, and brothers and sisters. Betty was a dedicated worker who was employed at General Electric for over 30 years. She loved gardening, canning, and watching soap operas. She was a huge Cubs fan along with her husband and enjoyed country western music. Betty was a kind woman who was known for her sweet and loving demeanor. Bettys favorite way to spend time was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday January 14, 2015 at 11 a.m., at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a life celebration home in Danville. Pastor James Blue will officiate; burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on the same day from 9 am to the time of service also at Sunset Funeral Home.
