Betty Owens

Betty Owens, 82, of Danville passed away September 16, 2015 at North Logan Healthcare in Danville. She was born on January 6, 1933 to Fred and Lida (Marrow) Nale. She married James H. Owens in Danville on September 18, 1948; he preceded her in death on June 13, 2010. Betty will be deeply missed by her sons; Jim Owens of Oakwood, IL, Jeff (Lynette) Owens of Danville; daughter, Joyce (Ben) Moore of Tilton; brothers, Robert (Brenda) Johnson of California, Charles (Mel) Johnson of Indiana; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and spouse. She was a Danville High School graduate. Betty was a homemaker and was always ready to pitch in and lend a helping hand to others. Among other things she organized and founded Hooton Water District. Betty could often be found entertaining and playing the organ. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 22, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Pastor James Blue presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 AM Monday prior to the service and burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to the charity of the donor's choice.
