Betty Mae Glassford

Danville- Betty Mae Glassford, 81, the Huff, Puff, Huff, Puff Gal of Evansville, IN, and formerly of Danville, IL passed away on June 29, 2013 at her home in Evansville after a year's battle with cancer. Mrs. Glassford was born April 10, 1932 in Smock, PA, a daughter of William D. Whitehead and Beatrice L. Whitehead with 5 sisters and 4 brothers. She married Willard Glassford on December 27, 1958 by Minister Edward S. Moreland, Walnut Hills Christian Church, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended the local Pennsylvania schools. She loved meeting and working with people and was a very adventurous person, outgoing, lively spirited, kindhearted, and giving spirited person. You might say she was a spiritual soul searcher with a heart of gold. Pennsylvania taught by working-class parents to believe or schooled to give back to others, and her blue-collar roots are the source of her resilience. Betty was preceded in death by her father and mother as well as three sisters and two brothers. She has two surviving sisters, Sarah A. Reisinger who resides in Newburgh, IN and Jane E. Voytovich in Smock, PA; two living brothers, John and George in Oregon; an adoptive daughter, Susan C. Rohner, with husband George M., reside in Evansville, as does her husband Willard Glassford. The Rohner's were "special caregivers" during Betty's final hours. According to her husband Willard, even though they had almost 55 years of memories, she was taken too soon. She was Willard's best friend. Before Betty and Willard moved to Evansville, Betty was Resident Manager for Ebner Properties, dba Worthington Towers Apts, in Columbus, OH for 24 years. During their 12 years at La Charmant Homeowner's Association, Inc. in Evansville, Betty assisted the management in several area, pro-bono. While in Evansville, Betty also attended Crossroads Christian Church. A service to celebrate the life of Betty Glassford will be held at 2 PM on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM on Friday, prior to visitation at the funeral home.
