Betty Lou Watts, 94, of Westville, IL passed away at her daughter’s home in Carmel, IN August 13, 2025.

Betty was born on May 25, 1931 the daughter of James and Mary Ellen (Gossett) Allie in Danville, IL. She married Raymond Watts on April 7, 1951 in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death on April 14, 2017.

Survivors include her children, Carrie (Frank) Hutnicke of Carmel, IN and Mary (Gerald) Miller of Savoy, IL and her granddaughter, Lindsey Hutnicke of Indianapolis, IN. Betty is also survived by her nieces and nephew, Dave (Judy) Felgenhauer of Naperville, IL, Pam Felgenhauer of San Diego, CA and Tracy Culkin of Sadorus, IL.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, (Raymond Watts), daughter, (Patrice Watts) and siblings, (Marge Felgenhauer and Julia Mahoney.)

Betty was an LPN at St. Elizabeth Hospital and the VA Illiana Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Danville, IL. Throughout life she was devoted to Immanuel Lutheran Church and volunteered in many ways over the years.

Betty was an avid reader. She was inquisitive and asked many questions, to the point of sometimes driving people crazy. She also enjoyed shopping, gardening, sewing, baking pecan rolls and prune cakes and giving them as gifts. Betty also enjoyed dancing the jitterbug with her husband and playing Bridge with friends.

Later in life, she enjoyed a variety of activities like jogging, with the completion of a ½ Marathon at 72 years old, aerobics and nautilus at the YMCA, and playing golf and tennis with her girlfriends. The last 15 years of her life she enjoyed playing FreeCell and Majhong on her computer and listening to Charles Stanley every Sunday morning.

Betty devoted her life to her daughters, granddaughter and friends to make sure they had the best life possible. She appreciated all her family and friends and was always there to help.

A Chapel Mausoleum Committal Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 18, 2025 at Spring Hill Cemetery, 301 East Voorhees Street Danville, Illinois 61832.

Memorials may be made in Betty’s memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville, IL.
