Betty Lou Snyder, 87, a beloved wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother passed from this earth on Monday, September 10, 2018. She was born on February 28, 1931 in Paris, IL to Charles "Dutch" and Hazel Snyder. Betty was one of nine children, 6 of who preceded her in death; Charles Jr., Mildred, Wanita, Carl, Lela and Dave. On December 24th, 1949 Betty married Charles Edward Snyder of Danville, IL for 68 blessed years. Betty and Chuck worked side by side at Esco Corporation for 26 years before retiring in 1993. The Snyder family, a close-knit family, would spend hours together camping on holiday weekends and monthly get-togethers. Betty was an active member of East Park Church of Christ in Danville and for years teaching Thursday school to the little children of the church. She loved playing cards, baking, sewing, camping and crafts. Many good times were had spending time with children, great grandchildren and family singing and enjoying each other's company. Surviving Betty are her husband, Charles; sisters, Wilma Jean (Sterling) and Beulah (Kemp); brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Willa Snyder, Steve and Marilyn (Snyder) Hubbard, Andrew and Patsy (Snyder) Warren; children, Guy, Denise Snyder, Trudy (Snyder) Pickett and Michael Pickett; grandchildren, Angela (Pickett) Van Slyke, husband, Mark; Douglas Snyder, Bobby and Amie (Snyder) Greene, and Nathan Pickett, adopted grandson Timothy Hashko. Great grandchildren; Ava and Mae Van Slyke, Levi and Colton Greene and Natali Pickett. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Dennis Floyd officiating. Visitation will be held from 9-11 AM prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Allhands Cemetery in Kickapoo State Park. Memorials can be made in her name to the East Park Church of Christ.
