Betty Lou Massengale

Champaign - Betty Lou Massengale, 83, passed away on Wednesday April 4, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born on March 26, 1935 in Champaign, IL to Jack and Ophelia (Lamb) Raney. Betty married Lonnie Albert Massengale on October 28, 1950 in Champaign, IL. Betty is survived by her children Linda Lou (Stan) Harsha of Dewey, IL, Lonnie (Marcia) Massengale of Hagerstown, IN, Rochelle (JR) Mantels of Urbana, IL, and Allan (Florinda) Massengale of Champaign, IL; grandchildren Maura (Javier) Alarcon, Chad (Tara) Harsha, Jason Harsha, Jill Massengale, David (Lora) Moore, Clinton Moore, Eric Welch, Lauren, Taylor, and Jenny (Emmanuel) Conde; 21 great-grandchildren; brother John Raney of Decatur, IL; and pet dogs Annie and Tina. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lonnie Albert Massengale; and son William Harrison Massengale. Betty enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking, embroidering, and coloring. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 1pm on Monday April 9, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL 61820. Dave Ashby and Trent Cloin will officiate. Visitation will be held prior from 11am-1pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
