Betty Lou Jenkins, 81, of Danville, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, February 19th, 2012 at the Hawthorne Inn of Danville. Betty was born on May 27th, 1930, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Larson) Hageman. She married Howard Evans Jenkins on August 17th, 1952 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville. Howard preceded her in death on December 16th, 1990. She is survived by four children- Kathryn Swanson of Peoria, Illinois, Susan (Larry) Kelsey of Darien, Illinois, Nancy (Dennis) Kritzmacher of Ellicott City, Maryland and David (Jennifer) Jenkins of Westville; two grandchildren- Stephanie (Matthew) Gibson of Dublin, Ohio and Brooke Jenkins of Indianapolis, Indiana; and one brother- Louis (Marilyn) Hageman of Mulberry, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Betty graduated from Danville High School in 1948. After high school she worked at the Sugar Creek Creamery in Danville, until she was married to Howard, when she became a stay at home mom. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville. When Howard was alive she enjoyed traveling to Lake Shelbyville. She enjoyed watching old movies on television, spending time with her family during the holidays and her dog- Jazzmine. A Celebration of the life of Betty Lou Jenkins will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23rd, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Daniel Fienen officiating. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association or to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
