Betty Lou Wilhoit Ingram, 96, of Westville, IL passed peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Betty was born on November 17, 1927 to C.D. & Florence Wilhoit in Paris, IL. She was raised in Paris along with her sister Ina McConchie and brothers Leland, Dale, and Russell Wilhoit. All have preceded her in death.
Betty was married to Francis Ingram on May 31, 1946 with almost 70 years of an amazing marriage. In 2015, he preceded her in death. She is survived by their two daughters Sherry (Arnie) Prestwood and Nancy Crisp; two grandchildren Angela (Tom) Serd and Michael (Stephanie Gurney) Crisp; and two great-grandchildren Aaliyah Warner and Nora Lynn Crisp.
Betty moved to Danville in 1953 and worked as a waitress at the Hotel Wolford, always saying that was her favorite job. She later worked at H & R Block, retiring after 35 years. The most important work to her was her home, family, and holidays. She enjoyed sewing for her family and her many years bowling at Ridgeway Lanes.
Betty loved sitting outside in the yard and visiting with neighbors & talking on the phone with her favorite people. Her and Francis traveled on many vacations together and after retirement were active in the boot kickers for several years. Through dancing, they met many friends and made wonderful memories. She is a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Westville. The family would like to give a thank you to the doctor and staff on the 4th floor at OSF in Danville and her special caregiver Ann.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 5-7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home’s Urbas Chapel, located at 414 S. State Street in Westville. A funeral service celebrating her life will take place the following day on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 10 am, also at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ridge Farm next to Francis following services. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Crown Hill Cemetery to assist in the perpetual care of all those laid to rest.
