Betty Lou Delores White

Betty Lou Delores White, 83, of Tilton, met Jesus face to face at 3:30pm, Monday, September 16, 2019, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman. She was born on August 24, 1936, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Harvey and Helen Elizabeth {Cooper} Griffin. She was united in marriage to her sweetheart, George A. White on May 4, 1958, in Westville. After 61 years together, he will miss her dearly.

Betty will also be missed by: her son, Timothy Allen (Marianne) White of Danville; her daughter, Darla Jean White of Danville; her brother, Robert Swider of Danville; her grandchildren, Katy, Brianne, & Carter, all of Danville; and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her brothers, Eugene Swider, LeRoy Swider, & Jim Swider; and her sister, Beverly Rouse.

Betty worked many places including, Woolworth, Windbreaker Jacket Factory, and Howell Playground. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was a good and faithful servant to the Lord and shared that love with everyone. She taught beginner Sunday School class for many years. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds, sewing, tending flowers, & cooking.

Betty loved music and instilled it into her family all the way down to her grandchildren. She was even a part of the group Sunny Norman and the Drifting Playboys which included her friend, Marvin Lee. She loved listening to Darla play piano and singing with her family and being in the Church Choir. Betty loved hearing people play the piano and sing even up to her last birthday. She always had a smile and was loved by all who met her.

A celebration of Bettys life will be held at 12:00pm, Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1632 Georgetown Road, Tilton, with Pastor Joe Humrichous officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday prior to her service at the Church. She will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Danville. Memorial donations may be given in her name to the Alzheimers Association. The family wishes to thank Pleasant Meadows staff for their loving care to Betty during her stay.
