Betty Lou Dean, 87, of Georgetown, passed away at 9:45am, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Presence USMC, Danville. On November 13, 1926, Betty was born to the late Albert Reed Pruitt and Emma Clark Pruitt, in Vance Township, Illinois. She was wed to Leland Irle Dean on December 2, 1943. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1999. Survivors include: two daughters, Vickie (Jerry) Gabehart of Westville & Patricia Funk of San Diego, CA; two sons, Dick (Evelyn) Dean of Danville & Darrell (Cindy) Dean of Sterlington, LA; four sisters, Helen Virginia Bear of Homer, Lucille Goad of Homer, June (Eldon) Larkin of Danville, & Judith Darlene Clark of Oakwood; her ten grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: two brothers, Donald Pruitt & Arnold Bill Pruitt; her sister, Wanda Vogler; and her granddaughter, Danielle Dean. Mrs. Dean worked most of her live in Danville at places including: TeePak, Kmart, the Hostess Bakery, & Meis Brothers, in addition to managing Clark Oil Stations in Danville and Westville with her husband, Leland. Mrs. Dean and her husband loved to travel in their younger years. In her later years, she enjoyed crocheting, reading novels, and talking to her sisters on the telephone. Until just a year ago, Mrs. Dean would be seen on her riding lawn mower taking care of her large yard in Georgetown. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00pm, Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at GAR Cemetery in Homer with Pastor John E. Mincy officiating. As were her wishes, Mrs. Dean was cremated. Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, assisted the family with arrangements.
