Betty L. Shoaf, 85, of Danville passed away on July 27, 2014 at her home in Danville. Betty was born on December 11, 1928 in Attica, IN, daughter of Harry and Harriot (Miller) Bowen. She married Norman “Skeet” Shoaf on May 28, 1948. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2002. Also preceding her in death is one infant son, David Shoaf. She is survived by two sons, Micah "Mickey" (Dale) Shoaf of Ohio and Randy Shoaf of Danville, one brother, Donald (Rose) Bowen of Ohio, five grandchildren, Jodie Shoaf, Adam (Holly) Shoaf, Bethany (Matt) Tompkins all of Ohio, Josh Neild of Chicago and Scott Neild of New York. Three great-grandchildren, Eban, Benjamin and Elias Tompkins of Ohio. Two nieces, Peggy Miller and Becky Bailey of Ohio and several great nieces and nephews. Betty retired from the VA and later Wal-Mart. She was a long time member of McKinley Church and later St. James United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending many hours working in the yard, also cooking and baking and sharing food with family and friends. A celebration of Bettys life will be held at 11:30 am on August 4, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 - 11:30 am prior to the service at the funeral home. As per Bettys wishes she will be buried with her dogs cremated remains at Danville National Cemetery in Danville, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Bettys name to the Vermilion County Museum in Danville.
