Betty L. Mccallister

Betty L. McCallister, 84, of Tilton, passed away on September 29, 2013 at Heartland Manor Care in Urbana. She was born on October 29, 1928 in Rantoul, the daughter of James and Cora (Wilson) Dixon. She married Leonard McCallister Sr. in 1944 in Rantoul, IL. He preceded her in death in 1990. Surviving her are one son, Leonard (Jackie) McCallister Jr., one daughter, Pamala (Don) Forsythe, two granddaughters, Dawn McCallister and Brandi (Chad) Cooper, three great-grandchildren, Leyanna, Kahliyah and Jantze Cooper and one special granddaughter, Jamie (Larry) Ross. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, four sisters and one grandson. She was a manager in the cafeteria for District #118 for 21 years before retiring in 1986. She also worked at Kmart for seven years retiring in 1990. She loved sewing, crocheting, making crafts, doing puzzle books and especially loved her dog “Tincey”. A Celebration of Bettys Life will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastor Kevin Ziegler officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
