Betty L. Hinton, 89, of Danville passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Colonial Manor. She was born on September 12, 1928in Danville, IL, the daughter of James and Sadie Martin. She spent her early years growing up in Tilton with her six older siblings. After graduating from Danville High School, Betty married Bill Hinton on August 25, 1947 in Danville, IL. Bill preceded her in death on February 9, 1989. Betty is survived by her grandchildren, Erin (Steve) Gardner, Bradley (Norie) Cooper and son-in-law, Bill Cooper; great-grandchildren, Summer Gardner, Caroline Cooper, Will Cooper and Anna Cooper. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Brenda Cooper, siblings, Vivian Hinkle, Bernice Murphy, Dora Lewis, Jim Martin, Bob Martin and twin Barb Gulley. Betty worked at General Electric for over 25 years. After retirement she enjoyed playing cards with different groups, working with Methodist Women at Mckinley and St. James Methodist Churches and shopping. Her greatest joys were being with her grandchildren and being GG to her great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2pm on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Burial will be in Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 1pm to 2pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. James Methodist Church and the St. James Woman's Group.
