Danville- Betty Ruth Kinney, 79, of Danville passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, while in the care of her loving family. Betty was born on November 24, 1931 in Danville to Harden and Ethel Marie McIntyre Knapp. She married the love of her life, Charles L. Kinney, on September 3, 1948. He preceded her in death on November 20, 2008, after 60 loving years of marriage. She was incredibly proud of their seven children: Sharon (John) Reed, Jerry (Sandy) Kinney, Vickie Brownfield, Karen (Richard) Rusk, Connie (Michael) Ollis, Janice (Dale) Van Duyn, and Patrick Kinney. She was blessed with grandchildren she adored: Jim, Jennifer, Chris (deceased), Gene, Scout, Luke, Shane, Amy, Keri, Erin, Jordon, Rachel, Samantha, Laurren, and Chloe. Betty dearly loved her great-grandchildren: Unity, Tristen, Parker, Alexander, Rylan, Abigail, Christian, Maxwell, Braden, Charrlotte, and Quinn. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Donald, Dale, and Bob Knapp, sister Dorothy Juvinall, and three brothers-in-law, Jack, Joe, and Bill Kinney. Betty attended Danville schools and Danville Junior College. She was a licensed Realtor and sold Real Estate with Fahey Realty. She was property manager at the Wilford Apartments in Danville until 1998 when she retired. She was proud to have been a part of the Wolford's history, an icon location from her youth. Betty enjoyed crocheting and giving her afghans away. She loved and collected antique jewelry, She was a social butterfly who was outgoing and friendly. Family and friends knew her as a strong and determined woman who was graceful and full of life. A service to celebrate the life of Betty Kinney will be held at 2PM on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Her nephew, Doug Knapp, will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7PM on Friday, June 24 also at Sunset in Danville.
