Clinton, Ind. - Betty Joann (Grumley) Bizzy, 84, of Blanford, and formerly of Eugene, Indiana, passed away at 7:35 a.m. EDT Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton, Indiana. She was born February 6, 1928 in Eugene, Indiana, the daughter of the late Paul Everett and Esther Nora (Dowers) Grumley. Betty married the love of her life, Dante C. Bizzy on February 17, 1990 in Eugene, Indiana. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2006. Survivors include her son, Jeffery(Therese)Grumley of Rockford, Illinois; one brother, PJ(Mary Ruth)Grumley of Paducah, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Ben(Amy)Moore of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Tom Moore of Middleton, Wisconsin; Margaret Grumley and Bretta Grumley, both of Chicago, Illinois; two great grandchildren, Isaac Emanuel and Juniper Louise(Ben and Amy Moore); a nephew, Paul(Juliette)Grumley of Paducah, Kentucky; three nieces, Janice(Charlie)Bell of Ennis Texas; Linda Grumley DuFour of Louisville, Kentucky and Nora(Mark)Cope of Paducah, Kentucky; eleven grand nieces and nephews; six great grand nieces and nephews; three great nephews, Bart, David and Rick(Kathy)Youmans; stepson, Harold(Gloria)Bizzy; stepdaughter, Evelyn Humes, and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty graduated from Cayuga High School in 1947. She received training as a bookkeeper from Danville Vocational School. Betty was employed in several bookkeeper positions at the Newport Court House in Newport, Indiana for 34 years: Vermillion County Highway Department and the Recorders Office. Prior to this, she was employed for Skelgas Company in Westville, Illinois. Betty was a past member of the Theta Tau Sorority and the Eugene United Methodist Church. In the past few years she attended the Bono United Methodist Church. Four years ago family and friends gathered at the Lion's Club in Clinton, Indiana to celebrate her 80th birthday. Betty was active in county politics for the Democratic party. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing cards with her grandchildren, and years of reading and crossword puzzles.
